One cricket game, eight kinds of pitch

Howzat Live is a free 3D cricket game you play live in your browser against real people — on a laptop, a PC or a phone, with nothing to download. The ground you call home decides how the ball behaves: Australia, South Africa and New Zealand are fast and bouncy; India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka turn; Bangladesh and the West Indies play even. Pick your country below.

Australia

Cricket in Australia is pace and bounce. The game knows it.

India

India searches for a cricket game more than the rest of the world put together. This one is free, 3D, and plays in the browser you already have.

Pakistan

Built in Pakistan, for the country that invented tape-ball cricket and reverse swing.

Bangladesh

A cricket game that works on the phone in your pocket, over the connection you actually have.

New Zealand

Green tops, swing, and a cordon waiting for the edge.

Sri Lanka

A Galle turner in a browser tab.

Why the pitch matters

A cricket game where every ground plays the same is a batting game with scenery. Here the surface is modelled: on a fast deck the ball reaches the bat sooner and bounces higher, a late stroke is an edge to the slips or an lbw, and a timed one goes harder. On a turning deck the spinners grip and the ball stays low. It means a team and a plan that win at home have to adapt away, which is what cricket is.
