Terms of Service

Howzat Live is a free online cricket game operated by Hisham Sarwar. By creating an account or playing a match you agree to what follows. If you do not, please do not use the site.

The game is free

There is no purchase, no subscription, no in-game currency and no paywall on any format. If a site claiming to be Howzat Live ever asks you for money or for a deposit, it is not us.

Your account

• You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password to yourself.
• One person, one account. Extra accounts created to inflate a rating will be removed.
• Pick a username you would be happy to see on a public leaderboard. We may rename or remove usernames that impersonate someone else, or that are abusive, obscene or hateful.
• You must be 13 or older to create an account.

Fair play

The Scale ladder only means something if the results behind it are real. The following will get an account's rating reset or the account removed:

• using scripts, bots or modified clients to play or to influence a match;
• arranging results, farming wins from accounts you control, or trading losses;
• deliberately disconnecting to avoid a recorded defeat, as a pattern;
• attacking, overloading or probing the service, or trying to reach data that is not yours.

Behaviour towards other players

Chat is there so two people can enjoy a game together. Harassment, threats, sexual content, hate speech directed at anyone, and spam are not allowed. We may remove messages and suspend accounts. Sledging your opponent about their cover drive is cricket. Abusing them is not.

What we provide, and what we do not promise

The game is provided as it is, free of charge. We do not promise it will always be available, that matches will never drop, or that ratings and records will never be corrected. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it, and we will try to give notice when a change matters.

Content and ownership

The game, its code, its artwork and the writing on this site belong to Hisham Sarwar. You may link to it freely and write about it. You may not copy the game or pass it off as your own. Anything you type in chat stays yours; you give us permission to display it to the people in the room and to store it as described in the Privacy Policy.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of a free browser game, including lost data, lost time or lost matches. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending it

You may stop using the site at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and will say why when we reasonably can.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and the courts of Pakistan have jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting consumer rights you hold where you live.

Changes

If these terms change materially, the date at the top changes and a notice goes up on the site. Carrying on playing after that means you accept the new version.
